Dear Members,

The position of Association Director is an important role in the Del Rey Residents Association (DRRA). At our General Membership Meeting in March, you will have the opportunity to cast your vote for five Directors.

Below, for your consideration, are the names and brief bios of the nominees for our March 2024 Directors elections.

Sharon Blunk

Address: Milton Street, Del Rey Community

Date Joined the DRRA: 1980

Current DRRA roles/activities: Director; Emergency Preparedness Committee Member; Membership Committee Member

Del Rey Resident: 39 years

Bio:

• Prior experience, positions: Past DRRA Membership Chair

• Community Involvement: Volunteer for various Del Rey Community activities

Georgina Huskey

Address: Allin Street, Del Rey Community

Date Joined the DRRA: 2015

Current DRRA roles/activities: Director; Emergency Preparedness Committee Chair

Del Rey Resident: 20 years

Bio:

• Prior experience, positions: Past Administrator for Cal. Disability Evaluation Division

• Community Involvement: LAPD Volunteer; CERT/NTP Certified; Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) Member; Pacific Area Boosters Member

• Educational achievements: Degree in Public Admin.; Commissioner of Social Security Award

Terrie Lavery

Address: Kenyon Avenue, Del Rey Community

Date Joined the DRRA: 2004

Current DRRA roles/activities: Director; Membership Committee Member; Emergency Preparedness

Committee Member

Del Rey Resident: 45 years

Bio:

• Prior experience, positions: Director MDR Anglers Club; Past PTA President

• Community Involvement: MDR Anglers youth mentor on fishing and environmental importance; MDR Anglers volunteer taking Veterans on day ocean fishing trips; various MDR event volunteer.

Melanie Mahal

Address: Michael Avenue, Del Rey Community

Date Joined the DRRA: 2006

Current DRRA roles/activities: Director; Land Use Committee Member

Del Rey Resident: 23 years

Bio:

• Prior experience, positions: Licensed Realtor; Solar Energy Consultant for residences/businesses; Previous career as creative director/writer for the education/events division of a marketing solutions provider

• Community Involvement: Led the Heart of Del Rey/Great Streets Challenge; Outreach Officer of Del Rey Neighborhood Council; planned and conducted Del Rey Day.

• Educational achievements: Bachelor of Arts

Joe Young

Address: Presnell Street, Del Rey Community

Date Joined the DRRA: 2022

Current DRRA roles/activities: Director; Land Use Committee Member

Del Rey Resident: 52 years

Bio:

• Prior experience, positions: Worked with local organizations on Ballona Wetlands issues.

• Community Involvement: Participated in Del Rey homeless count for three years; Volunteer with Sierra Club; Led youth outings for school kids with Sierra Club and Audubon Society

• Educational achievements: B. S. Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineer, MIT; Environmental Science M. S. West Coast University
